All about denture implants

You will never lose your false teeth again with implant dentures, also called overdentures or snap-on dentures. Steak, hard candy, nuts, raw fruits or vegetables will no longer need to be softened or cut into smaller bites because your dentures are locked into place with dental implants.

With Denture Implants, you don’t have to worry about hassling with adhesives and glues.

Plus your chewing efficiency will be returned to normal.  Also, the implants stimulate bone retention preventing the bone from resorbing around the dental implant which helps prevent facial collapse.

Removable or Non Removable Implant Dentures?

We offer both Implant Retained and Implant Supported Dentures, the latter is removable by you. They clip into place and stay put, improving your oral health and giving you peace of mind that they will not move until you’re ready to remove them for cleaning. Removable implant dentures are a fraction of the pricing compared to non-removable.

Implant Retained Dentures are only removable by the dentist. They are a superior, more functional, almost permanent denture. People comment it's like having their natural teeth back. They are strongly built, made of acrylic, titanium and/or zirconium.

NOTE: It is imperative not to confuse implant dentures with hybrid bridge denture or All on Four prosthesis. The cost of implant dentures are only a fraction of the pricing of fixed hybrid false teeth or All-on-Four, therefore; our denture implants are more affordable.

Applications of Denture Implants

Denture implants are perfect for the lower jaw because regular dentures tend to be less stable there. Usually, a regular denture made to fit an upper jaw is quite stable on its own and doesn't need the extra support offered by implants. However, you can receive an overdenture in either the upper or lower jaw.

What are the benefits of Denture Implants?

• Ending looseness and instability

• Preventing pain and discomfort

• You are able to chew naturally again

• You can speak properly again

• No more mouth noise or clicking sounds

• No more cheek or tongue biting

• Normal salivation returns

• Long lasting, implants can remain with you 25+ years

• Safe, implants have an excellent track record since 1965

• Stimulate bone growth helping to prevent facial collapse

• Minimal complications due to advanced technology

What is a Clip On Denture?

A Clip-on Denture is simply a removeable denture supported with dental implants. It is known by many names:

• Implant Supported Denture
• Snap-On Dentures
• Overdenture
• Clip-In Dentures
• Lock In Overdentures
• Implant Dentures

How much are mini dental implants for dentures?

In Twin Falls, they have been advertised for about $1200 per implant; however, we DO NOT sell mini-implants because:

• They wear out quicker– studs cannot be replaced
• the smaller size does not bind well with jaw bones
• the smaller size must have precise torque & placement
• they are structurally weaker
• they offer no lifetime warranties

A mini implant is all one piece, if it breaks, you replace the entire thing, incuring huge costs and extra medical complications.

If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. Paying for low cost mini implants is just not worth the risks.

Are implant supported dentures removable?

You can choose a implant retained denture which is only removable by the dentist, however, our most popular implant dentures are removable.  They simply lock in to place on titanium studs. You should remove an implant-supported denture daily to clean the teeth and gum area.

Each implant in the jawbone holds a metal attachment that fits into another attachment on the denture. In most cases, the attachments on the implants are ball-shaped ("male" attachments), and they fit into sockets ("female" attachments) on the denture.

Can I save money and use my existing dentures?

Yes, in most cases we can modify your current dentures to fit on implants reducing your denture implant costs.

During your consultation with Dr Romriell, we will carefully examine your existing dentures to determine if they can fit on new dental implants and discuss solutions to stay in your budget.

How long does the procedure take?

Implant retained dentures takes 2-3 visits to complete over about 6 months. This includes procedures and placement of the denture. However, the process can last longer, especially if you need bone grafting or other adjustments.

First we carefully place the implants in the jawbone under your gums. Then in about 3-6 months we expose the top of the implants and insert studs to hold your dentures.

If you have great bone density and a healthy jawbone, your process will be shorter. Plus the lower jaw bone heals faster than the upper, so you can have perfect fitting dentures in no time.

Am I a good candidate for denture implants?

Dr Romriell has rarely found patients who could NOT have denture implants. But you must have a healthy jawbone capable of supporting more than one implant.

Uncontrolled diabetes, cancer, radiation to the jaws, smoking, alcoholism, or uncontrolled gum disease are all risk factors that can adversely affect your outcome. You may still be a good candidate with one of these diseases, but we’ll want to thoroughly assess your situation and work with you and your doctor to increase your overall health and functioning.

People who take certain medications, such as steroids or drugs that suppress the immune system may not be suitable candidates, either. And people who severely grind or clench their teeth may put too much pressure on the implants, causing long term damage.

A crown covers a tooth to restore its normal shape and size. The cap is placed on teeth that have lost a lot of their structure-- dental crowns range from full porcelain to full metal.

Sealants can protect parts of the tooth, particularly pits and fissures in permanent molars, from plaque and food. They can also stop small areas of decay from becoming larger.

Dental Implants

Dental implants provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth. Eat virtually anything plus implants help solve denture problems.
